Club subs vs British Rowing membership
Club subs are paid to your club for using its boats, boathouse and coaching. British Rowing membership is paid to the national governing body. It is needed for racing at affiliated competitions and includes insurance cover that depends on the type.
The main types
- Race: for rowers who race at affiliated competitions.
- Row: for people who row but don't race at affiliated competitions.
- Coach and Umpire: for qualified coaches and licensed umpires.
- Community: for volunteers and supporters.
- Day ticket: a one-day race licence for certain competitions.
Prices and exact cover change, usually from 1 April. Check British Rowing's membership page for the current details.
Which one do I need?
If you want to race at affiliated regattas or heads, you'll normally need Race membership, valid on race day. Without it, you may not appear when your club enters you on BROE2.
How BoatLog helps
BoatLog handles the club side: membership categories, subs and who has paid, with reminders before renewals. British Rowing membership is bought from British Rowing.
