Before you go

  • Consent and contacts: parent or guardian consent for the trip, and emergency contacts for every junior.
  • Medical information: allergies, medication and conditions known to the adults in charge.
  • Supervision: enough adults, appropriately checked under your club's safeguarding policy, with a named lead.
  • Overnight stays: follow British Rowing's safeguarding guidance for trips away.
  • Entries: correct junior age categories and memberships.

On the day

  • Know where every junior is, and when they're boating.
  • Agree a meeting point and a way of calling everyone in.
  • Food, water, sun cream or warm kit, depending on the weather.
  • A plan for a capsize, injury or lost child.

Afterwards

Get everyone home with the right adult, report any incident or near miss, and log any damage to the boats.

How BoatLog helps

BoatLog keeps DBS checks and qualifications for coaches in one place, links juniors to their parents' contact details for emergencies, and lets coaches report incidents from their phone, at the regatta or back at the club.
